Wow! What a difference!

I couldn't stand it!  I just had to see what the framers got done Friday, so we all headed over after dinner.  Surprise!  These framers continue to amaze us - and it's only Day 2 (Friday, April 8)!  They assembled and installed the LVL, removed all the temporary supports, loaded Big Red again with demo material, removed the cabinets in the breakfast area, and added some extra support in the basement.  If all of the parties would move as fast as these guys, we would be done by May!  We are so impressed that we now plan to have them also demo the bathrooms (it would take us forever), and remove/install the siding and windows.  These guys are good.  Such a blessing!

On Saturday (today), we met with the plumber and foundation guy.  The foundation work is supposed to start and finish on Monday.  Mr. Dean from church also met with us and surveyed some of the lines/pins that we weren't sure about.  He confirmed that our blueberry bushes are indeed well on our property!  ;-)

Another layer of wallpaper!  This was hidden behind the
remaining cabinets that the framers removed!  Ugh.

Wow!  LVL and columns installed!  We cannot believe how open this is!
And we cannot believe that the framers got all of this done today!

So open!  Big improvement!  Thank you, David!  Great job!

I was actually surprised that this column (left) was not larger.  Steve is known to be very thorough and include big safety factors, so I was expecting something...beefier.  This is essentially holding up the middle of the house!  I have, however, been assured that this column is more than adequate!  ;-)

Such a big difference!  This change helps a lot - it's not so boxy anymore!

Scott is so strong!  Three walls have been removed
(1 will be moved a few feet and rebuilt for the laundry room)...

The framers removed the plywood that had mold growing on
it from the leaky ice maker and replaced it with new plywood.

Added some new supports in the basement.  Not quite done...
this is to address the heavy brick floor that is partially hanging over the basement...

It's amazing that the LVL and 2 columns replace that entire structural wall!

Studs are gone!  Looking straight through
from the family room to the school room!

Getting a surveying lesson with Mr. Dean this morning...surveying equipment
has come a long way since Scott and I took surveying in college!  Unreal!
