More demolition! The "Rainbow House".....

Much better.....Looking into the family room....nice to have the wall completely removed.

Old kitchen and dining room.  Scott loosened the base cabinets.

Scott removed almost all of the foyer closet.  We're removing this closet so we can place a piece
of furniture here and we're adding two new closets where the front porch is now....

Looking from the new kitchen to the family room.
A friend is designing an LVL to support this load-bearing wall so we can open it up.

From the foyer to the new kitchen (old dining room)...

This floor is completely removed now!  Yea!

Steps going upstairs - carpet and wallpaper will be removed....

Master bathroom - the "green bath".... (we also have a gold one and a pink one).....

This doorway is coming out and will be moved...Scott is removing the header.  The old closets are already removed.  Scott thinks this is fun....I don't....  ;-)

The first carpet to be removed - old dining room...(new kitchen).....

So glad we removed it so we can see moldy areas - the refrigerator must've been leaking.....

Another moldy spot under the kitchen cabinets near the sink - must've had another leak.....
Thankful to see this so we can remove it properly.....

Getting ready to haul another load in "Big Red" to the landfill.....

The kids are working hard to remove the family room carpet.

Dining room carpet is completely removed.

Ripping out hallway carpet.

Removing family room carpet.

"Progress" in master bedroom.

This house gets the all-time award for the most variety!  Most variety in floor coverings AND wall coverings....It's the rainbow house....I'm going to scream!  There were 8 different types of flooring downstairs and 7 upstairs (including 5 different colors of carpet upstairs)!  And NONE of the 15 floor coverings were the same!  Lots and lots and lots of wallpaper too.  All different patterns.....The Rainbow House no more!  It's going to be "boring"!     ;-)  All the same hardwood flooring downstairs and tan paint with white trim and all the same color carpet upstairs.  Ahhhh......
(well, we're letting the kids have different colored paint in their bedrooms).

We got a lot done today - 4 more hours of hard work....Pulled up carpet in the family room, hallways, and old dining room areas.  We discovered two moldy areas near the kitchen - so thankful to see that so we can remove it properly.  Scott also took out two built-in cabinets in the dining room and worked on removing a bit more of the master bedroom existing doorframe.  He and the girls took another load of demo material to the landfill - only 1 ticket for a full truck!  So grateful to have "Big Red"!  Yesterday, Scott loosened the kitchen cabinets to be removed and took out the walls of a closet we are removing in the foyer.

Praise God for His protection - Scott was opening Big Red's tailgate and a piece of trim with nails sticking out snapped up unexpectedly and nearly hit him in the face.  It was a close call and could've been ugly.  We thank God for His hand keeping us safe.

It was fun looking at the blooming plants today.  God is boldly announcing "Spring is here"!  The forsythias are in peak bloom - such a vivid yellow.  The kids were so excited to see the bulbs coming up that we planted in the fall.  The dogwoods have buds and the peonies are starting to poke up out of the ground....
