Caleb's Celebration/Prayer Gathering & Chicken Improvements

" O LORD my God, I called to you for help and you healed me."  -- Psalm 30:1

Mary Beth and Monika hosted a celebration and prayer
time for Caleb this past Saturday.  It was such a blessing.
Monika sharing a devotional....

Gammy (Dawn's mom) working on a book list with Sarah and Hannah...

Lyn, Monika, and HaLee...

The chickens love compost!  Ashley is always bringing
them treats from our kitchen -- and they LOVE her!

The chickens have been continually getting out of the 24 inch rabbit fence.  We're actually surprised that temporary fencing worked as long as it did.  Scott is installing taller galvanized fencing and a gate.

Scott built nesting boxes.  The hens were laying eggs everywhere besides these
boxes until we placed golf balls in them.    That seemed to convince the hens to
lay eggs in the boxes -- or at least close to the boxes.  ;-)

Scott built this partition for the guineas in the chicken coop.  It works perfectly!  The guineas and the chickens can see each other through the wire and get used to each other before we allow them to "mix".  We read in a book that guineas are super-wild and to leave them in the coop for at least six weeks to hopefully train them that this is their home for night-time.  They can free-range during the day to eat lots of insects, but this is where they should sleep.  We'll see....

The guineas are getting big!  We still won't know how
many are males and females for a few more weeks.
