Ashley getting ready

Ashley...Even though she qualified for breast stroke at the Champs Meet next week-end (we're pround of you!), this is our last swim practice.  Mommy is done with swim team and ready to have this baby.  Praise God that the baby's head is down and he's in good position.  We had an ultrasound at 38 weeks (this past Friday) and I'm measuring 43 cm (instead of 38) and they estimate Caleb's weight is about 8 lbs 9 ozs.  (+/- 1 lb) Yikes.  Let's hope he's really 7 lbs 9 ozs and ready to be born soon!

"Let me out!  Let me out!  Now!"

"Go, Go, Go!"

We started adding Bragg's organic apple cider vinegar to the birds' water today (1 Tbsp to 1 gal water) -- not only is it healthy for them (and us!), but it should help with algae control of the waterers during this hot weather.

The guineas love greens!

This Buff insists on laying her eggs on the floor near the nesting boxes.

Caleb's Celebration/Prayer Gathering & Chicken Improvements

" O LORD my God, I called to you for help and you healed me."  -- Psalm 30:1

Mary Beth and Monika hosted a celebration and prayer
time for Caleb this past Saturday.  It was such a blessing.
Monika sharing a devotional....

Gammy (Dawn's mom) working on a book list with Sarah and Hannah...

Lyn, Monika, and HaLee...

The chickens love compost!  Ashley is always bringing
them treats from our kitchen -- and they LOVE her!

The chickens have been continually getting out of the 24 inch rabbit fence.  We're actually surprised that temporary fencing worked as long as it did.  Scott is installing taller galvanized fencing and a gate.

Scott built nesting boxes.  The hens were laying eggs everywhere besides these
boxes until we placed golf balls in them.    That seemed to convince the hens to
lay eggs in the boxes -- or at least close to the boxes.  ;-)

Scott built this partition for the guineas in the chicken coop.  It works perfectly!  The guineas and the chickens can see each other through the wire and get used to each other before we allow them to "mix".  We read in a book that guineas are super-wild and to leave them in the coop for at least six weeks to hopefully train them that this is their home for night-time.  They can free-range during the day to eat lots of insects, but this is where they should sleep.  We'll see....

The guineas are getting big!  We still won't know how
many are males and females for a few more weeks.

July update...

Ashley's Guard Start class - blowing up a pair of jeans while
treading in 10 feet of water.  I'm exhausted just watching!

Successful!  Survival training...I think we should just wear life jackets!

Chick-Fil-A Day!  Mommy has 4 weeks to go until Caleb's due date.

Daniel running towards the Kingswood Pool - we cross this big field every day...

Swimming!

Hannah working on her breaststroke.

Connor taking a break...

Coach Harold isn't wasting any time teaching Daniel how to swim -- and dive!  Coach Harold has such an amazing gift teaching swimming to all ages - He is just getting back from the Olympic Trials with Ben Colley and here he is so patiently working with a 4-1/2 year old!
Ashley during her Guard Start class with Ms. Anne.

Daniel can't wait for his swimming lesson to begin!

Our first egg!

Scott found our first egg today (the small green one in the carton above).
We really need to get our nesting boxes  put up in the coop!

At Gammy & Poppy's house, getting ready to steam up some fresh crabs right off the water...

No claws on this one...

Poppy and Connor...
Mr. Chris rode in the boat with Ashley, Hannah, Connor, and
Daniel while Poppy pulls it in the Reedville July 4th parade...

What a beauty!

The pool guy came out and "shocked" the pool which killed the algae and  tadpoles.  However, we also discovered that the pump is broken and a new one will not be in stock for nearly a week.  Also, we have a skimmer problem....
