Setbacks...paint colors and shower...

Some of our last demolition --
Connor is joyfully destroying an old bathroom cabinet...

Loading up the second trailer of the old aluminum siding for recycling...
so thankful to have this huge pile removed and we get some money for it!

Box turtle found...

This is a HUGE flower!  Hibiscus plant that the kids over-wintered...
We stand in awe of God's creation!  Look at that detail!

Hardwood floors delivered today!  Yea!

I messed up on the paint colors.  While I love the brown and the blue (we're using it for Daniel's room), we didn't think they really worked in this older home that has low ceilings and smaller windows than newer homes...This house is much darker than our last house.  So I called LuAnn from the cabinet company and told her my concern.  The kids had a swim meet practically across the street from their office (I don't believe in "luck" or "coincidences" -- our God is Providential and I thank Him!), so we stopped by there with a bunch of paint samples.  She agreed that the brown was too dark for this house (she's been here) and chose a much lighter tan.  We're going to be boring and paint that all downstairs.  So...we're starting over with the painting...ugh.

This blue was so bright and the new beige so light, that we re-primed it.
We made sure the hardwood floor boards were well-covered with tarps.
We saw this bumper sticker at the library...I love it (except for the pronoun "my" --
it's actually God's money and God is the giver of freedom)!  Change is not always good. We pray for our nation's leaders to fear and love God, and to seek Him for wisdom.

Some of the veggies are now taking off - they love the hot weather!  I'm thankful that Scott found time to put up this galvanized wire fencing (3 rolls of 2"x3" openings and 5 ft. x 100 ft.) to keep out animals...  although the kids saw baby bunnies run right through it!  Grrrrrrr.  Back to Home Depot to buy rabbit fencing which is only 28" high, but with even smaller openings.  We put the "rabbit guard" up just around the green beans - which they LOVE!  But so do we!

The other setback this week was the last shower we needed to buy.  Nothing fancy -- just a simple two piece white shower (the plumber remeasured and didn't think the one piece would fit through the upstairs doorway/hallways).  We have been to four Home Depot stores from Hampton to Richmond trying to buy one that is not damaged...We have wasted so many hours with this particular shower.  It's amazing - their computers show that the store might have 2 or 3 of them, but the employees can't find them!?  What!?  How can you misplace a 48" shower!!??  We bought one from Hampton to find out that when the plumber unwrapped it, he noticed it was damaged.  Ugh.  We finally found another one and hope to have the plumber come back this week to install.
